Lead Product Designer

Mapleton Hill designers work on a variety of projects throughout the year, exposing them to new design challenges and tools. You’ll be working in small teams, with ownership over projects, to deliver high-quality, user-centered design solutions for our clients. For this position, we’re looking for experienced product designers who can lead design efforts and mentor junior designers while maintaining a strong focus on delivering exceptional user experiences.

What it’s like to work at Mapleton Hill

• You’ll be collaborating with cross-functional teams of 2–6 members, including developers and product managers.
• You’ll be working in an Agile Scrum environment.
• You’ll typically be focusing on one project at a time, driving it from concept to completion.
• You’ll be engaging directly with clients to understand their needs and gather design requirements.
• You’ll be designing user interfaces, creating wireframes, prototypes, and conducting user research and testing.
• You’ll be working on projects that typically last between 3–9 months.

Required skills

• Strong proficiency in Figma, Sketch, or Adobe XD
• Experience with prototyping tools (InVision, Marvel, or similar)
• Experience conducting user research and usability testing
• Strong understanding of UI/UX best practices and principles
• Experience leading design teams and collaborating with developers
• Experience working in an Agile environment

Bonus points if you know or have experience with

• Animation tools (After Effects, Lottie)
• Design systems development
• Front-end development (HTML/CSS, JavaScript)
• AI/ML-driven product experiences
• Accessibility design practices (WCAG)

Step 2: Phone Interview – If your portfolio resonates with us, we’ll schedule a quick phone interview. During this call, we’ll ask about your past design work, challenges you’ve faced, and your approach to problem-solving.

Step 3: Design Challenge – If we believe you have the experience we’re looking for, we’ll send you a take-home design challenge. This is your chance to show us your design thinking, process, and how you translate ideas into tangible solutions.

Step 4: Design Presentation & Collaboration – The last step is an in-person (or virtual) session where you’ll present your design challenge, walk us through your decisions, and engage in a collaborative design exercise. We’re excited to see how you approach complex problems and how you work within a team.
