Technology Partnership

Our partnership with the J.R. Simplot Company has lasted over a decade going back to Pinnacle Agriculture. From enterprise web and native mobile applications to Salesforce Mulesoft Integrations and event-driven architecture, Mapleton Hill has collaborated to make strides in taking agriculture technology into the future.

Simplot has leveraged the full-breadth of our service offering. From Project Management to UX/UI design, front-end and back end software engineering, content management, native mobile application development, quality assurance engineering, and technology consulting.

Below is an overview of the types of engagements we’ve had with Simplot over the years.

Advisor Platform: A Comprehensive Tool for Modern Agriculture

Mapleton Hill has played a central role in building and evolving Advisor, a robust digital platform designed to support crop advisors and growers in managing their day-to-day agricultural operations. The platform includes a fully responsive web portal where users can manage farms, fields, and plantings, submit agronomic recommendations, and access synced data from external systems—including application data and product pricing.

In addition to the web portal, the platform features a native mobile app purpose-built for in-field tasks such as soil sampling, tissue sampling, and crop scouting—providing advisors with the tools they need, even in remote environments. A specialized Pricing Tool supports dynamic price management across the platform, ensuring accuracy and consistency across locations and systems.

Our cross-functional team—including product owners, business analysts, UX/UI designers, full-stack engineers, and QA specialists—works closely with Simplot stakeholders to continuously deliver value and prioritize business needs. Together, we’re driving innovation in ag tech by delivering user-focused, scalable software that supports smarter, more efficient farming.

Real-Time Weather Insights for Agriculture

Simplot partnered with Mapleton Hill to develop a native iOS application that brings real-time weather data directly to the hands of employees, crop advisors, and growers. The app allows users to log in, search for stations, tag favorites, and view live weather conditions—such as temperature, humidity, wind, and rainfall—from AgSense WagNet devices deployed across agricultural sites.

To support the app, we collaborated with Simplot to define and test the underlying APIs and implemented an event-driven architecture that collects and stores station data every five minutes. We also worked with the Advisor platform team to ensure secure authentication and role-based access to public and private stations. The result is a sleek, reliable mobile experience that transforms weather data into a daily decision-making tool for the field.

Enterprise Sitecore CMS Development Across Brands

Mapleton Hill partnered with Simplot as a long-term extension of their Sitecore development team, supporting full-cycle delivery across multiple brand websites. Over several years, we contributed UX/UI design, front-end and back-end Sitecore development, and project management to a range of digital initiatives—from full site builds to ongoing enhancements, maintenance, and support.

Our collaboration spanned several of Simplot’s core digital properties, including Simplot.com, SimplotGrowerSolutions.com, Innvictis.com, and Simplot Canada. Across these projects, we focused on creating flexible, scalable web experiences aligned with business goals—ensuring consistency across the Simplot brand ecosystem while supporting the distinct needs of each audience.

Powering Logistics Automation

Simplot engaged our team to co-architect and implement an automated integration between its internal JDE platform and one of their third-party logistics (3PL) partners.

To support this initiative, we implemented an event-driven architecture connecting Simplot’s JDE platform with the 3PL’s Softeon warehouse management system. The solution included new Microsoft Event Hubs and custom MuleSoft flows to enable seamless bidirectional integration of Sales Orders and Shipping Confirmations.

We extended JDE’s event logic, developed robust APIs, and worked closely with both Simplot and the 3PL to ensure reliable, end-to-end communication. This foundational integration enhanced data accuracy, streamlined fulfillment, and laid the groundwork for future expansion to include Purchase Orders and additional workflows.

Modernizing Agvance–Salesforce Integration with Event-Driven Architecture

Simplot’s Turf and Horticulture division partnered with our team to modernize its existing integration between the Agvance ERP system and Salesforce. The goal was to move away from a legacy Logic App-based solution toward a robust, event-driven architecture that would enhance reliability, scalability, and transparency across systems.

We engineered a new integration platform leveraging Azure Event Hubs and microservices to decouple systems and enable real-time processing of invoice, customer, and statement data. In addition, we developed an internal web portal that provides business users with complete visibility into the integration—offering self-service capabilities to monitor events, investigate message failures, and retrigger or resend messages as needed. The portal also includes a real-time dashboard summarizing key metrics across the messaging platform.

We worked closely with internal Simplot engineers and the Salesforce development team to architect and implement a seamless solution. Using Salesforce Platform Events, we ensured that data flowed into Salesforce exactly as intended. The integration also included listening for outbound Salesforce payment events and pushing that payment information back into Agvance as payment records—enabling a complete, bidirectional data sync between systems.

Global Content Management with Contentful

In partnership with Simplot Global Food, LLC, Mapleton Hill is helping build and scale a modern, multi-regional digital platform using the Contentful content management system. As part of their ongoing development team, we support the architecture and implementation of SimplotFoods.com along with 12+ regional sites and growing. Each region serves localized content—featuring different languages, product catalogs, and regulatory considerations—requiring a flexible, content-first approach.

To power accurate and up-to-date product data across the platform, we’ve integrated the CMS with Simplot’s Product Information Management (PIM) system. This real-time integration ensures that customers and distributors always have access to current product information, regardless of region or language. Our work enables Global Food, LLC to maintain a consistent global brand presence while delivering localized, relevant experiences at scale.
